Profile and a little bit of work history

I am an approachable and diverse people person with excellent customer focus, training and development, support, administration and investigation qualities. I am able to manage time and recourses efficiently, meet and exceed targets and deadlines effectively. I am an excellent communicator with superb planning and organizational skills and have the ability to liaise with people from many different backgrounds and cultures. I posses the ability to work well under pressure, and I am also highly motivated and able to prioritise and follow a task through successfully from start to finish. I am reliable, friendly, honest and very hard working. I give over 100% to everything I do. I am a well disciplined, punctual employee who is confident and persuasive with a good sense of humour. I feel that my personality and enthusiasm to learn and help others has been a big strength within my career and I would be an attribute to working for your team.

I am currently studying for my BAPP . Once I have gained this qualification I hope to undertake such a programme as a GTP, SKITT or Schools Direct commencing in September 2015.

Immigration Manager – UK Immigration

·          Accurate data recording and data input.

·          Collected visas from assignees, recording all data accurately, for reporting purposes both within IBM internal controls and UKBA external audits.

·          Produce Certificates of Sponsorship (COS) using the UKBA Sponsorship Management System.

  1. Oliver Thanks for this - a varied work background. You mentioned a move to an education pathway in your last blog - what has led you to education in terms of your job skills? How are former roles helping to develop your new role within a school. You must need to consider ethics in your work… Have you started any of the reflective sections of Part 2 yet? Like to hear more - realise your internet connection is not brilliant - but do and upload when you can!

    1. Hi Paula,

      Just managed to upload task 1B. I will endeavour to upload more tasks this week into the beginning of next week.

      Regarding your questions, I have always loved the role of 'educator/teacher/leader', be this in leading dance classes/warm ups, training new starters at Orange/IBM or The Highwayman. I found that this was the area of most job satisfaction for me, watching them learn, nurturing them and helping along the way.

      After my dancing career finished, I did look into going to University and starting a four year MA degree and then going on to do a PGCE, however it was always the cost of doing this that always put me off. After several years of just muddling through with various different jobs, I embarked on the task of finding employment in a school (getting my foot in the door so to speak). Once this was completed and I had secured a job at ECPS , I decided to have another look at Uni - and I found you :) and BAPP (Arts). This, I decided, was my way forward.

      Regarding Part 2. No, is the short answer. Have read some of the reader, but now the Viking Musical is nearly over, I have my nights back to myself and can get on with the task in hand. I have however developed writing my diary in a better format, as oppose to just just what I did, with whom and when. Hoping that it will all make more sense when I read it back and I have finished Reader 2.

  2. Good explanation in your replies - starting and stopping happens now more often to all of us in our careers. Here is a Guardian article that talks about Beck and his theories of risk in modern society http://www.theguardian.com/books/2006/feb/11/society.politics. Good you have moved onto the journal as this is a great way to organise gathering information (data) about experience in order to reflect upon it.
